Q : Does buying a JF mean you are getting a Japanese built Casio?
A : The "1JF", "JF", "J", or "JR" markings in the model number do not always mean that it was made in Japan. It means it is a model designated to be sold in the Japan market. It also does usually indicates it was made there, but it is not a guarantee.
For instance, Seiya (a very well known Japanese seller with his own shop in Japan) has a GW-5530C-1JR. It was made in China. If you're thinking "I mean specifically JF..." he also has for sale a GW-9300-1JF, which was made in Thailand.
The best way to know where it was made is to see the caseback. If the caseback says Japan, that's where it was made. Frankly, other than a couple of models, it doesn't matter where it's made because Casio robots make them and their robots in Japan are just as good as the ones in Thailand, China etc....
