CASIO SOLAR POWERED AQ-S810W-1AV ... A LITTLE REVIEW.....

Just got this a week ago and loving it!
This is the new solar powered AQ-S810W mentioned by Triton9 in a recent thread: Is this casio nice?
There're 4 variants available of which I bought the black with white accents
The numerical 12, 9, 3 and 6'o'clock markers, along with the hands are luminous, and I've found them to be above average considering the weak lume one normally finds on most Casios. Functions are identical with its predecessor the AQ-W800W, as they share the same 5208 module. Aesthetically they're quite different though:
The case is larger and chunkier with raised edges projecting 3mm above the acrylic crystal on top and bottom of the face, giving it some protection if it hits face flat against a surface. Along with the 4 decorative screws seen on top, the overall impression is of an outdoor activity/work watch as compared to the slimmer, sportier, more streamlined look of the AQ-S800W. The straps are fitted firmly with 18mm springpins and immovable, projecting at an angle that would suit larger wrists, unlike that of the AQ-S800's which allow the strap to swing slightly on the pins allowing a more comfortable fit for smaller wrists. That being said, I found the watch fairly comfortable to wear despite having a small 1/4" wrist, sizing it to the 4th strap hole enables me to put my index finger in between the strap and wrist, just the right amount of freeplay without the watch rolling about too much.
Here's a size comparison with a proper ana-digi GShock:
As I do not own any of the GA-1xx series currently, Iv'e used a AW-582 to do a size comparison. Visually the AQ-S810 looks very slightly larger than the G.
I will finish off this little write-up with an obligatory wrist-shot:
With similar chunky looks, Tough Solar, a good set of functions, but at a fraction the price of its more rugged Casio cousin, I would certainly find this to be the poor man's GA-1xx GShock.
