Tokyo, August 8, 2017 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its G-SHOCK brand in April 2018. To mark this milestone, Casio plans various activities, such as releasing commemorative and collaboration models, and organizing various events around the world. As the first step in this celebration, Casio announced today the release of BIG BANG BLACK, a commemorative collection of four G-SHOCK models featuring a new color, matte black.

G-SHOCK got its start when a Casio engineer decided to try to develop a watch that was virtually unbreakable in 1981. Rejecting the common sense that wristwatches were always fragile and easy to break, he took up the challenge of proving it wrong. After more than 200 prototypes, and a two-year development process, the first G-SHOCK model with a shock-resistant structure was released in 1983. Since that time, the brand has continued to evolve based on the brand concept of “Absolute Toughness.”

The BIG BANG BLACK collection, the first set of 35th anniversary models, employs a new kind of black, the symbolic color of the brand. The matte finish of the new base color was achieved using technology that incorporates particles into the paint, creating a flat black finish that seems to absorb all light. Contrasting with the matte black that evokes the state of emptiness before the origin of the universe, the bright gold color of the case back expresses the instantaneous mega explosion of the Big Bang. To mark the 35th anniversary of G-SHOCK, Casio is looking back to the origin of the brand, and has produced the BIG BANG BLACK collection to declare its commitment to continuing to create new value with G-SHOCK for years and years to come.

The case backs of these models are engraved with the G-SHOCK 35th anniversary logo designed by Eric Haze, a world famous graphic artist, while the metal band loops are emblazoned with a star emblem that represents 35 years. The phrase, “SINCE 1983” is featured on the dials, and special packaging has also been created to further enhance this very exceptional collection.

Tokyo, July 11, 2017 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of new additions to the G-STEEL series of watches that feature a layer guard structure combining different materials. The GST-B100 and GST-B100D watches feature analog chronographs with a large, distinctive dial indicator, as does the special edition GST-B100X model.

The GST-B100 and GST-B100D are the first watches in the G-STEEL series to feature analog chronographs. An iconic dial indicator at the nine o’clock position is designed in the bold image of the turbine blades on a jet aircraft engine. The dial indicator rotates to graphically indicate the elapsed stopwatch time, alarm on/off setting or battery level. The watches feature a high-power dual coil motor that drives the large dial indicators. The appealing rotation of the dial indicator and the multidimensional watch face make for a chronograph that is distinctively G-SHOCK.

The watches are equipped with the Connected Engine, which connects to Internet time servers via a smartphone, to keep accurate time anywhere in the world. The user can also set the alarms and world time city from a smartphone app. Other practical features including the original high-efficiency Casio Tough Solar power system, a high-luminosity LED light, and Dual Dial World Time.

The new watches feature an updated layer guard structure that combines metal and resins to absorb shock and is a signature feature of the G-STEEL Series. The shock-resistant resin parts have been incorporated into the case to make for a thinner case. High-density packaging technology has been used to reduce the size of the component modules, further enhancing the wearability of these watches.

The GST-B100X, special edition model, incorporates carbon materials in the bezel. Cutting-edge TORAYCA® carbon fiber and NANOALLOY® resin technology from Toray Industries, Inc. are combined to realize a material with excellent shock resistance and an appealing look that augments the bold bezel design. The face is made from scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with excellent clarity and readability, offering both durability and good looks.

These latest G-SHOCK watches deliver a unique use of materials and a distinctive rotating indicator while offering even greater universal value with their wearability and ability to tell accurate time anywhere in the world.

Tokyo, July 7, 2017 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today the release of new additions to its EDIFICE line of high performance sports chronographs that combine dynamic design with advanced technology. The four new EQS-600 models are solar powered chronographs featuring 3D inset dials.

Under the concept of “Speed and Intelligence”, the EDIFICE brand evokes the sense of velocity found in motorsports, while offering diverse functions made possible by cutting-edge electronics technology.

The new EQS-600 watches are solar powered, and they feature a stopwatch that can measure up to 30 minutes in one second increments. The inset dial in the 6 o’clock position serves as a battery level indicator for added convenience.

The watches also feature three-dimensional inset dials. Utilizing proprietary molding technology developed by Yamagata Casio in Japan, the inset dials are integrated with the 3D watch face, producing a dynamic look unique to EDIFICE. The dial accent lines of red, blue or gold set off a design that evokes an advanced image of high velocity. The same accent colors are used for the second hand, for greater design impact and readability.
